EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Newly hired CYS caseworker(s) work under the general supervision of a Supervisor for a 60-day probationary period and must complete a 10-week curriculum consisting of both classroom and fieldwork.
Employee will learn about the network of community resources, complete site visits, and will work with senior casework staff.
Caseworkers are responsible for ensuring the safety, permanency and well-being of the children in the County.
Responsibilities include providing casework and counseling services to client children and their families.
This includes but is not limited to assessing and investigating allegations of abuse and neglect; referring the child and family for the appropriate services and ensuring families are utilizing resources appropriately; properly completing applicable forms and paperwork documenting case activity as established by regulations; preparing and providing testimony in court; participating in a variety of meetings; and abiding by the appropriate policies, procedures, laws and regulations pertaining to child welfare.
In this position, a caseworker will work collaboratively with educators, medical personnel, law enforcement, courts, and other professionals to ensure children's safety.
Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment.
Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
After-hours, On-Call rotation and travel is required (evenings and weekends).
