Job Summary
The Biostatistics Core works collaboratively with researchers across Geisinger.
The Core assists investigators throughout all stages of research from proposal drafting to analysis and interpretation and offers training in biostatistics.
Specifically, Core members assist with research question and hypothesis specification, study design and variable selection, sample size and power estimation, analysis plan, data collection design, randomization, data management, and biostatistical analysis.
The Core currently consists of 10 members with a mix of MS- and PhD level positions.
Members collaborate with departments across the health system including Community Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology, Otolaryngology, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, among others, as well as support full-time faculty on grant related efforts.
The Biostatistics Core is seeking a full-time doctorate-level biostatistician.
Responsibilities include collaborating on the design of clinical research studies, writing biostatistical analysis plans for research proposals and internal grants, calculating sample size and power, managing, analyzing, and interpreting study data and results, contributing to study publications, and educating members of the research team in statistical methods and study design.
Experience in logistic regression, time-to-event (survival), and observational data analysis methods are essential as well as the fundamentals of model building.
The successful candidate will have a doctorate degree in biostatistics or related field with at least 2 years of experience in a healthcare environment, and management experience of junior colleagues.
They should possess a solid understanding of clinical research, excellent communication skills, work independently and ability to handle multiple projects to meet deadlines in a multidisciplinary research environment.
Experience managing large datasets in a healthcare environment is required.
The candidate must have experience in programming for data management and complex data analysis using SAS or R.
This position has the potential to be remote, depending on the candidate.

Independently provides statistical consultations or collaborations with clinical principal investigators.

Possesses the critical thinking skills needed to provide statistical support to clinical investigators.
Experienced SAS or R programmer for both data manipulation and statistical analysis.
Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills.
Independently uses time management and organizational skills to successfully prioritize concurrent projects.
Demonstrates sound judgment and resourcefulness.
Management experience.
Work is typically performed in an office or remote environment.
Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
